As you all noticed I instituted a house rule for my world last week involving when a character dies. According to the book a character dies when they reach neg their constitution. I much prefer that a character dies when they reach neg con +1. If your con is 14 your good until you reach neg 15. The book way would leave me feeling like I was dead with one bullet left or crashed with 1 minute of fuel left, just not a good feeling. Not much of a change but still a change.

I must admit this bothered me a bit, but I'm over it. I'm totally fine with a DM making whatever house rules they wish however and I'm sure I will a few of my own. I'll proceed with my argument anyway, the stats are actually maximums for each attribute. A strength of 18 tells you what the maximum is you can do at strength 18 (damage, load carry...). Wisdom score gives you the max you can do with cleric spells and saving throws. Constitution therefore would also be a maximum number and I wouldn't feel bad at all about saying you are dead at neg constitution. In essence you have reached the limit/maximum, there is no more.

In addition a house rule made on the spot feels like character saving to me. Had it been in place since day one no biggie. I like Mr. Horn very much though and I am glad he still around. Perhaps the Owl took a couple points on his behalf.

I like Mr.Horn also but not that much, the one point was something I have been considering for a few weeks, Mr.Horn’s problem just made it a now or never item.

Perhaps you don't remember the old guy in LOTR? A slight mishap with a Balrog was only a mild setback.

Not to worry, plenty of time still about to off the old codger...lest he wrests some platemail from some kind soul...

I find Mr. Horn interesting as well, in a sort of passive-aggressive sort of way. Only now since you popped that rule to save him, he's tainted. Yeah yeah, I know you'd planned to do it all along etc. etc., blah blah blah, but you didn't so your motives and his mortality are forever in doubt. If you're that intimidated by the idea of a rabid she-bitch in your campaign, I suggest you go back to DMU and take a remedial course of Man Up 101.

Yeah sorry Bren, it is the 'right' thing to do. I hope it is a glorious death though. Actually just change your name to Mr. Horn the White and we'll just consider it a transition from Mr. Horn the Grey Donkey Herder to something more respectable.

"Mr. Horn the Grey Donkey Herder"
That's just flat out funny. It would be sad to see him go when we have finally worked out all the details of how fast a 97 year old man can move through caves while leading a donkey. But we'll just store that bit of info in the archives for the next time someone plays a 1st level Donkey Herder.

And since when has "right thing to do" ever played into a campaign?

Sorry, the old goat's getting more sturdy by the minute. You may have lost your chance.
